The United States last won an Olympic medal at Rio 2016, where they finished third in the podium. Their last gold win was at Beijing 2008. The USA are seeking to make it to their 13th Olympic Games, competing against hosts Japan, Slovenia, Serbia, Türkiye, Tunisia, Egypt and Finland.

They recently had an impressive performance at the VNL, reaching the Finals and placing second overall. With Matt Anderson and Aaron Russell showing great form and with the rise of TJ Defalco helping on offense, Team USA are bound to continue their outstanding season.

Serbia are hoping to revive their glorious Olympic past, winning back-to-back medals – bronze at Atlanta 1996 and gold at Sydney 2000 – as the former Serbia and Montenegro. Their last Olympic appearance was at London 2012.

Igor Kolakovic is back at the helm of Serbia since 2022 and will rely on his solid attacking trio of Uros Kovacevic, Marko Ivovic and Drazen Luburic on offense, and count on Petar Krsmanovic and Marko Podrascanin to defend their side of the net.
