Outside hitter Ricardo Lucarelli will be one of the veteran faces of the Brazilian squad in Paris

Three-time Olympic champions Brazil confirmed the 13 players tasked with taking the country’s men’s national team back to the podium at the Paris 2024 Games on Sunday.

Head coach Bernardo Rezende, who guided Brazil to gold at both the Athens 2004 and the Rio 2016 Olympics, will have three players from the most recent successful campaign under his guidance in his squad in Paris – setter and team captain Bruno Rezende, middle blocker Lucas Saatkamp and outside hitter Ricardo Lucarelli.

Setter Fernando ‘Cachopa’ Kreling, opposite Alan de Souza, outside hitter Yoandy Leal, middle blocker Isac Santos and libero Thales Hoss have Olympic experience from the Tokyo 2020 Games. Opposite Darlan de Souza, outside hitters Adriano Xavier, Lukas Bergmann and Henrique Honorato (alternate) and middle blocker Flávio Gualberto will be Brazil’s Olympic rookies in Paris.

Besides Brazil, have also announced their squads for the Paris Games the men’s national teams of Argentina, Germany, Japan, Poland and the United States.

First match against the world champions

Brazil’s first match at the Paris 2024 Games will be a tough one as the South Americans will face world champions Italy on July 27, at 13:00 local time (11:00 GMT). Poland and Egypt are also in Pool B and will play the Brazilians in the first round of the tournament.
