Poland Volleyball Paris 2024-min

Leon, Bieniek, Zatorski and Kurek are part of Poland's experienced core

FIVB World Ranking leaders Poland will have one of the strongest and most experienced rosters in the men’s volleyball tournament of the Paris 2024 Olympics as the country’s main stars were all included in the 13-player selection made by head coach Nikola Grbić.

In addition to the star power brought by players such as outside hitter Wilfredo Leon, opposite Bartosz Kurek, middle blocker Mateusz Bieniek and libero Paweł Zatorski, the Serbian coach will also rely on the massive experience within the roster.

Poland’s Paris 2024 squad will have as many as nine players who represented the country at the Tokyo Olympics, three years ago – four out of those nine were also at the Rio 2016 Games, while team captain Kurek made his Olympic debut in London 2012 and is set to make his fourth appearance. Bieniek, Zatorski and setter Grzegorz Łomacz are the ones with two Olympics under their belts.

The four Olympic rookies in the Polish squad are setter Marcin Janusz, outside hitter Tomasz Fornal, middle blocker Norbert Huber and opposite Bartłomiej Boładź, who will be the team’s alternate in the French capital.

Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Japan and the United States were the other men's national teams that also revealed their rosters for the Games.

Egypt, Brazil and Italy in their pool

The Polish campaign in Paris will start on July 27, when the Europeans face African champions Egypt at 17:00 local time (15:00 GMT) at the South Paris Arena. Poland’s other opponents in Pool B are Brazil and Italy.
