The drawing of lots is held one day before the start of the Men’s Volleyball Nations League 2024 Finals in Łódź, Poland.

The qualification period for the Olympic Games Paris 2024 came to an end with the conclusion of the Volleyball Nations League 2024 Preliminary Phase. The FIVB and Volleyball World then announced the 12 men’s national teams that had qualified.

Competition formula

After the Drawing of Lots, the 12 national teams in each gender will be split into three pools of four participants. Host country France will occupy the top spot in Pool A for both genders, while the first positions in Pools B and C are reserved for the qualified national teams best ranked in the FIVB Volleyball World Rankings (as of 17 June for the women and 24 June for the men).

The draw will then have three stages, with teams ranked from fourth to sixth, from seventh to ninth and from tenth to 12th being allocated in their respective pools following the serpentine system.

In the pool stage of the competition, teams will face each of their three opponents once. Those ranked first and second in each pool will advance, as well as the two best third-placed teams. Teams will be seeded in the Final Phase bracket according to the Teams Combined Ranking System and starting at the quarterfinals, the tournament continues in single elimination format.
