The mercurial Ngapeth delivered great performances in France's second gold medal-winning campaign

France’s victory in the men’s volleyball tournament of the Paris 2024 Olympics wasn’t the only repeat from the Tokyo Games, three years ago, as just like was the case in the Japanese capital, star outside hitter Earvin Ngapeth was named as the Most Valuable Player of the event.

Playing in his third Olympics, the 33-year-old Ngapeth was instrumental for the gold medalists, helping them get to the title with 92 points scored across the team’s six matches in the tournament – 75 kills, ten blocks and five aces.

Ngapeth was particularly important in the team’s impressive comeback over Germany in the quarterfinals, when he registered 21 points, his highest mark in the tournament.

Although five French players were selected for the Paris 2024 Dream Team, he was one of just two athletes who also made the list in Tokyo three years ago, alongside libero Jenia Grebennikov.
