Zhu and Yuan are among the five Olympic champions in the roster

Less than a month before the start of the Paris 2024 Olympics, China became the second women’s national team to confirm its squad for the event, joining defending champions the United States.

The Asians will have five Olympic champions from the Rio 2016 Games in their 13-player roster and among them is 29-year-old star outside hitter Zhu Ting, who recently returned to the national team and appeared in six matches in their campaign in the Volleyball Nations League 2024.

Besides Zhu, 34-year-old setter Ding Xia, 28-year-old outside hitter Zhang Changning, 27-year-old opposite Gong Xiangyu and 27-year-old middle blocker Yuan Xinuye are the other Rio Olympic champions who will be looking for gold again in Paris.

The Chinese roster will also include three players who represented the country in Tokyo 2020 in outside hitter Li Yingying, middle blocker Wang Yuanyuan and libero Wang Mengjie.

Olympic debut against the USA

China were drawn into Pool A for the Paris Olympics and will face defending champions the United States in their opening match, on July 28, at 17:00 local time (15:00 GMT). They will also battle hosts France and world champions Serbia during pool play at the South Paris Arena.
