It will be the first time in history Thailand hosts the VNL Finals. It lines up as the fifth country, after China (twice), Italy, Türkiye and the United States, to welcome the spectacular event. The Southeast Asian country did, however, host Preliminary Phase pools during three of the previous women’s VNL editions, in 2018, 2019 and 2023, and it was always a testament to local fans’ love, knowledge and appreciation not only for their favourite national team, but for the sport of volleyball as a whole.
The 2024 Finals return to the same venue that hosted VNL matches in 2018, 2019 and 2023, as well as a number of FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix events between 2008 and 2017, including the 2016 World Grand Prix Finals. Indoor Stadium Huamark is an iconic 8,000-seat facility in the Thai capital that was originally built to host the 1966 Asian Games and, over the years, has welcomed a number of major events in other sports as well.
The first two quarterfinals of VNL 2024 will be played on June 20. The other two will take place on the following day. The semifinals are scheduled on June 22 and the medal matches for the bronze and for the gold will line up the podium on June 23.
Other than Finals hosts Thailand, the teams of Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Dominican Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, the Netherlands, Poland, Serbia, Türkiye and United States are the 15 squads to vie for the seven vacancies in the quarterfinals during the first three competition weeks of the 2024 season.
