Türkiye at full force for title defense at VNL 2024

Türkiye will have each of their main players available as they attempt to defend the Volleyball Nations League title they won last year in the 2024 edition of the tournament following the announcement of their 30-player roster for the event.

Italian head coach Daniele Santarelli decided to bring his very best options for the tournament as the Europeans also finalize their preparations for their Olympic appearance at the Paris 2024 Games.

The Most Valuable Player of last year’s VNL, star opposite Melissa Vargas will be back leading the Turkish offense in their 2024 campaign. The 24-year-old, Cuban-born player showed she was capable of taking Türkiye to the next level in international volleyball and will be back for more, looking forward to making her first Olympic appearance later in the season.

Players who were pillars of the team in the last few years, such as setter Elif Şahin, outside hitters Ebrar Karakurt and Hande Baladin and middle blockers Eda Erdem and Zehra Güneş, will all be available for Santarelli during the VNL 2024 as well.

The FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Ranking leaders could, in fact, be even stronger this season with the addition of opposite Alexia Căruțașu. The 20-year-old, Romanian-born player spent the last six years playing for Turkish clubs and completed her citizenship process, being called up by Santarelli for the first time this season.

The defending champions will start their VNL 2024 campaign at home, hosting the opening week of the event in Antalya, where they will play Japan, the Netherlands, Italy and France from May 14-19.
