The top scorer of the 2021 VNL, the 22-year-old Herbots is one of the rising stars of the new generation in international volleyball and completed a stellar club season in Italy with Igor Gorgonzola Novara in 2022, helping the team finish second in the country’s league.

Herbots' serves are one of her most efficient scoring weapons

Her only blocking point in the match came at the end of the second set, when she single-handedly stopped outside hitter Sara Lozo at the net to deny the Serbians their first set point and score Belgium’s 17th point of the set at 17-24.

She also brought to an end one of the most exciting and electric rallies of the match in the third set. Herbots had to swing three times before scoring and did so with a powerful sharp angle hit to cut the Serbian lead to 9-6.

With at least 11 more matches to be played during the 2022 VNL, starting on Thursday, against Italy, at 19.00 local time (16.00 GMT), Herbots could be on pace to beat her 337-point output at the 2021 VNL.
