Annie Drews: We came out maybe a little too excited, a little jittery

USA denied Canada in the first set and went on to sweep their northern neighbours in straight sets, retaining a perfect record after two matches in the 2021 FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League.

Here's the reaction after the game, from the virtual Mixed Zone:

Kiara Van Ryk (Canada): "We played two great teams - Brazil and USA are top in the world so we knew that was gonna be a tough battle for us, but I am proud of my team. In both games we came out ready to play, we played hard, we showed that we can compete at this level and obviously we need to continue it out through the whole match. We did it a little bit in the second set. If we can continue to keep our passing there and being confident on our swing, I think, we are gonna grow and we will be able to compete longer in the matches."

Annie Drews (USA): "We did a good job covering up the first set. We came out maybe a little too excited, a little jittery. I know myself this is my first game in two years in team USA, so a little nervous when you start the match. But after that we did a really good job staying patient and just taking point by point. I was trying to get a good connection with people around me - in defence when I'm blocking next to and whenever the setter put our force. I think Lauren [Carlini] did a really good job tonight spreading offence and we had a really nice connection tonight."
