The Volleyball Nations League (VNL) 2021 has brought incredible action from 32 of the world’s strongest national teams to hundreds of millions of fans across the globe over the past month. With the final week of the competition underway and the final stages on the horizon, the action is heating up with the title of VNL Champions on the line.
According to the ratings of China’s largest national TV broadcaster, China Central Television (CCTV), volleyball featured as a fan favourite on its sports channel, CCTV-5. The highest peak ratings figure of over 2.35 per cent came as the China national women’s volleyball team took on the USA.
The other highest ranked matches also featured China against various top-level opponents such as Poland, Russia and Italy with viewing ratings of 2.15 percent, 2.07 per cent, 1.85 per cent respectively. Meanwhile, China’s match against Brazil ranked fifth with an average viewer rating of 1.23 per cent.
