Liu consistently posted double-digit outputs in the final round and tallied 80 points, 70 of which were from attacks. Liu made 21 points in their 3-1 loss to Turkey, and produced an 18-point performance to help China defeat Paola Egonu-led Italy in four sets. She had 17 markers in their semifinal loss to USA, but her 24-point contribution in their next encounter with Turkey was very valuable as she helped beat the silver medallists to earn another bronze medal success.
Liu represented Bayi in the China Volleyball League and then transferred to Liaoning in the latest season. At the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship in Shaoxing, Liu reinforced Zhejiang Women's Volleyball Club and recorded 90 points to finish the tournament as second best scorer behind compatriot and VakifBank Istanbul star Zhu Ting.
