Max Holt (USA)

Max Holt has impressed everyone as an at-the-net defender and has proved to be a dominant player in that position ever since he made his debut for the United States in 2009. Over ten years later at the FIVB Volleyball Nations League, he is still doing what he is so good at, and was named on the tournament Dream Team as Best Middle Blocker in 2019, alongside clinching a silver medal.

Holt recorded 30 stuff blocks and added that to his preliminary round output of 42 attacks and nine blocks, to be the eighth best blocker with a 0.42 blocking average per set. In the Finals, his 39-point contribution was built from 20 spikes, two ace serves and 17 blocks, which increased his blocking average to 1.06 per set and made him the only player to score a block per set in all matches played in Chicago.

Holt has spent most of his professional career in Italy, playing for Marmi Lanza Verona (2009-2010), Volley Piacenza (2010-2013), Modena Volley (2016-2020) and Vero Volley Monza (2020-2021). Between those stints at Piacenza and Modena, he was in Russia for three seasons playing for Dinamo Moscow, where he won a CEV Cup title in 2014.
