Annie Drews (USA)

After Michelle Bartsch-Hackley led the United States to win the inaugural title of the FIVB Volleyball Nations League in 2018, Annie Drews took the reins to repeat their success in the next edition.

The left-handed hitter took Most Valuable Player honours after leading all USA scorers with a 312-point output built from 274 attacks, 20 blocks and 18 aces throughout the tournament. In the final round, she recorded 77 points, which included her dazzling 33-point performance in the final against Brazil that helped USA to a five-set comeback win.

She has played professional club volleyball in Puerto Rico, Italy, Turkey and Japan. She played for Puerto Rican clubs Indias de Mayaguez in 2016 and Criollas de Caguas in 2017, then spent the 2017-2018 season in Italy with SAB Volley Legnano and Pomi Casalmaggiore. She then spent one season with Turkish club Kameroglu Belikduzu Voleybol Ihtisas, before she moved to Japan to play for JT Marvelous, where she led the club to back-to-back V.League title victories.
