Nootsara Tomkom and Amporn Hyapha blocks at attack of Yurie Nabeya

Nootsara Tomkom, Wilavan Apinyapong, Malika Kanthong, Onuma Sittirak and Pleumjit Thinkaow have proven they are battle-ready as they heed the call of the Thailand Volleyball Association to form the country's replacement team for the 2021 FIVB Volleyball Nations League in Rimini, Italy.

After the announcement that several members of the team tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this week, the national federation was allowed to make changes to the roster.

A team composed mostly of veteran players was called up, led by superstar setter Nootsara, who was 2019's top setter in the preliminary round with the highest setting average of 6.68 per set.

The Thai team will be guided by the 35-year-old Kittikun Sriutthawong when they compete in their third edition of the VNL. The Southeast Asian squad placed 15th and 12th in the first two editions. Their first match will be against Asian powerhouse Japan on May 25.
