Christian Fromm (GER)

Germany wrapped up Week 2 of the 2021 FIVB Men's Volleyball Nations League by putting a stop to Slovenia's run after a high-scoring performance of 20 points from captain Christian Fromm and advancing themselves to a 3-3 record, as the tournament continues at Italy's Adriatic resort of Rimini.

The accomplished 30-year-old leader of the German team has been playing a key role for his country at this VNL.

"I try to give my experience, my emotions and my strength," said Fromm as the team takes a three-day break before returning to action in Week 3. "And today in some crucial balls it was pretty good that I am strong and heavy, but we need everybody and every skill - also those that our more technical players have. So I tried to lead them and to keep them in focus. We need to play every ball and ball by ball."

Christian Fromm sends the ball down the line, past the block of Slovenia's Jan Kozamernik at the 2021 VNL.

But the German side also includes some up-and-coming stars.

"We have a good mix of young and experienced players, but it can be our advantage," said Fromm. "The young guys are very hungry and the more experienced ones share with them their knowledge. It's like this. We also can do rotations like we did in the last games and we are always close to the victories. I see a lot of potential and I'm happy for the future of our team."

And team spirit is part of Germany's strategy. "We play as a team, we have no one single guy. We fight as a team and everybody has some skill that he is bringing to the team and most of the time it pays off."
