Head-to-Head

  • Brazil and Poland have met 62 times at major world level tournaments (FIVB Volleyball Nations League, Olympic Games, FIVB Volleyball World Championship, FIVB Volleyball World Cup, FIVB Volleyball World League and FIVB Volleyball World Grand Champions Cup). Brazil won 41 matches and Poland 21.
  • Brazil beat Poland 3-0 in on 11 June in this 2021 VNL. It is the only straight-sets loss for Poland in the 2021 VNL.
  • Poland grabbed bronze in the 2019 VNL by beating Brazil 3-0 in the third-place match.
  • These nations met three times in major world level tournament finals, all in World Championships. Brazil won in 2006 (3-0), Poland in 2014 (3-1) and 2018 (3-0).
  • Brazil became champions at the most recent Olympic Games (2016), World Cup (2019) and Grand Champions Cup (2017). Poland are the reigning world champions. They won the 2018 World Championship after a 3-0 win in the final against Brazil.
  • Brazil and Poland met for the first time at a major world level tournament in the 1960 World Championship final round. Poland won that match 3-2 and finished fourth, while Brazil finished fifth.

Brazil

  • Brazil have reached the final of the Volleyball Nations League for the first time. They finished fourth in 2018 and again in 2019.
  • Brazil can become the first team to have won all six major world level tournaments: Volleyball Nations League, Olympic Games, World Championship, World Cup, World League and Grand Champions Cup.
  • Brazil have won a record 23 major world level tournaments. They won the most recent major world level tournament, the 2019 World Cup.
  • Brazil finished top of the VNL preliminary round for a second time, after also achieving this in 2019. As mentioned before, Brazil finished fourth in both the 2018 and 2019 editions of the VNL.
  • Brazil won 14 of their 16 matches in the 2021 VNL. They lost against France (3-0) and against Russia (3-0).
  • Yoandy Leal scored 20 points for Brazil in their 3-0 semi-final win against France. It was the third time he scored as many as 20 points in a VNL match in 2021, after his 20 points against Netherlands and versus Italy.
  • Brazil's top scorers in the 2021 VNL are Ricardo Lucarelli and Wallace De Souza, each on 147 points. Yoandy Leal is next on 145 points.
  • Wallace was the outright top scorer of the 2018 VNL on 277 points, Lucarelli recorded the most points for Brazil at the 2019 VNL on 259 points.

Poland

  • Poland finished the league round with a W12-L3 record, their best in a VNL edition (W10-L5 in 2018, W11-L4 in 2019).
  • Poland can become the first reigning world champion to win the VNL/World League since Brazil in 2007.
  • Poland can win their sixth major world level tournament. They won the Olympic Games in 1976, the World Championship in 1974, 2014 and 2018 and the World League in 2012.
  • Poland can join Brazil is the only nations recording at least 12 wins within a major level tournament. Brazil did this twice, in the 1993 World League (14) and the 1994 World League (12).
  • Wilfredo Leon (119) is Poland's top scorer in this VNL. It is the fewest points for a top scorer of a specific team at the 2021 VNL.
  • Leon (31) recorded the second-most aces of all players in the competition, behind Netherlands' Nimir Abdel-Aziz (36).
  • In the 2019 VNL Poland's top server had less than half the amount of aces compared to Leon this year: Bartosz Kwolek on 14 aces.
