- Brazil and United States have met 60 times at major world level tournaments (FIVB Volleyball Nations League, Olympic Games, FIVB Volleyball World Championship, FIVB Volleyball World Cup, FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix and FIVB Volleyball World Grand Champions Cup). Brazil won 32 matches and United States 28.
- The United States beat Brazil 3-1 in the 2021 VNL preliminary round, marking one of Brazil's two defeats in this year's competition (along with a 3-2 defeat against China).
- Brazil and the United States faced each other in the final of the 2019 Volleyball Nations League, when United States won 3-2 (15-13 final set) after trailing 2-0 in sets to claim their second Volleyball Nations League title.
- Brazil won the final of the 2008 and the 2012 Olympic Games against United States (both 3-1).

Brazil
- Brazil reached the Volleyball Nations League final for the second time, after their 3-2 loss against USA in 2019. Brazil took a 2-0 lead in that match but saw USA prevail.
- Brazil reached the final round of the VNL for the third consecutive time. They finished fourth in 2018 and runners-up in 2019.
- At world level, Brazil have already won Olympic gold (2 times), the World Grand Prix (12 times) and the Grand Champions Cup (2 times).
- Brazil lost only two matches in the 2021 Volleyball Nations League (W13-L2), a 3-1 defeat against United States and a 3-2 loss against China.
- Brazil won each of their last seven matches in the 2021 VNL and conceded only three sets in this run (1 against Germany, 2 against Turkey).
- Tandara Caixeta (247) has won the most points for Brazil in the 2021 VNL. Tandara (302) also won the most points for Brazil in the 2018 VNL. In the 2019 VNL, Gabi Guimaraes (278) was Brazil's top scorer.

- The United States have reached the final in all editions of the Volleyball Nations League, winning the league in 2018 and 2019.
- USA beat Turkey 3-2 in the 2018 VNL final, followed by a 3-2 win over Brazil in 2019.
- At world level, USA also won the World Championship (2014) and the World Grand Prix (6 times).
- USA last lost a final in the 2016 World Grand Prix, losing 3-2 to Brazil.
- United States won 15 of their 16 matches in the 2021 Volleyball Nations League, with the only exception a 3-0 defeat against China in their final match of the preliminary round.
- For the first time a women's team won at least 14 matches in the preliminary round of a VNL campaign.
- USA lost their last preliminary round match 3-0 against China, ending their 23-match winning streak in the VNL, the longest in the history of the competition.
- United States have not played a five-set match in the 2021 VNL.
- Andrea Drews is USA's top scorer in the 2021 VNL on 136 points. Jordan Thompson won 127 points for the team. In 2018 and 2019, USA's top scoring player had at least scored 200 points for the team - Michelle Bartsch-Hackley (270) in 2018) and Drews (235) in 2019.
