One of the fastest-growing women's volleyball national leagues on the planet, the Polish Tauron Liga is set to start its 2025-2026 season next weekend, with the first round of regular season matches.

Contested by the nation's 12 best teams, the Polish League reunites some of the stars of the country's national team and also top international players, who compete in a high-level and exciting race for the title that has had different winners in each of the last three seasons. In 2025-2026, as it happened last season, all matches will be streamed live on VBTV.

The regular season in Poland starts on October 9 and extends until March 21. The top eight teams advance to the playoffs, which have the quarterfinals and the semifinals played in best-of-three series and the Finals held in a best-of-five format.

With the first serve coming in just a few days, it's time to know about the 12 participant teams - this time we'll look into six of them:

BKS BOSTIK ZGO Bielsko-Biała

One of the most traditional teams in Poland, Bielsko-Biała have won the Tauron Liga eight times (1987-1988, 1988-1989, 1989-1990, 1990-1991, 1995-1996, 2002-2003, 2003-2004, 2009-2010) and finished fourth in 2024-2025. Coached by Bartłomiej Piekarczyk, the team has Polish national team middle blocker Aleksandra Gryka and Estonian opposite Kertu Laak as key pieces. Bielsko-Biała lost two players with Polish national team pedigree this offseason in setter Julia Nowicka and outside hitter Julia Piasecka and looked to the international market to strengthen the team, bringing Estonian Kristiine Miilen, Serbian Ljubica Kecman and Hungarian Réka Bozóki-Szedmák as options at the outside hitter position.

ECO HARPOON LOS Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki

The winners of last year's Polish second division, Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki are set to make their first appearance in the Tauron Liga in 2025-2026. The team coached by Bartosz Kujawski has kept seven players who helped them earn promotion as part of their roster for their debut in the elite, most notably libero Anna Bodasińska, outside hitter Katarzyna Kowalczyk and opposite Malwina Stachowiak. Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki added some much-needed Tauron Liga experience to their roster with the signings of opposite Paulina Reiter and outside hitter Barbara Zakościelna. Another of their additions, American setter Krysten Garrison is the only international player on their squad.

ITA TOOLS STAL Mielec

Mielec had their best campaign in the Tauron Liga in 1999-2000, when they finished second, and were eighth last season. After being promoted from assistant to head coach during their last campaign, Miłosz Majka continues in charge. The top scorer of the Tauron Liga last season, opposite Oliwia Sieradzka left the team alongside six other players, including setter Pola Janicka. Setter Julia Bińczycka, Canadian opposite Natasha Calkins, outside hitter Anna Bączyńska and middle blocker Magdalena Ociepa were Mielec's main signings and should form the core of the team with outside hitter Aleksandra Adamczyk, middle blocker Gabriela Ponikowska and libero Izabela Dąbrowska.

KS DevelopRes Rzeszów

After five straight second-place finishes, DevelopRes Rzeszów finally won their first Tauron Liga title in 2024-2025. Repeating as champions will be a big challenge for the team, which saw key players such as middle blockers Agnieszka Korneluk, Magdalena Jurczyk and Weronika Centka-Tietianiec, outside hitters Monika Fedusio and Elizabet Vicet and Brazilian opposite Sabrina Machado and head coach Stéphane Antiga all leave during the offseason. Now led by Spanish Cesar Hernández, DevelopRes Rzeszów will count on returning setter Katarzyna Wenerska, libero Aleksandra Szczygłowska and Dutch outside hitter Marrit Jasper to lead their new signings, which includes opposite Oliwia Sieradzka, outside hitter Julita Piasecka, middle blocker Dominika Pierzchała and Belgian middle blocker Laura Heyrman.

LOTTO Chemik Police

The most dominant team in the Tauron Liga in the last three decades, with 11 titles (1993-1994, 1994-1995, 2013-2014, 2014-2015, 2015-2016, 2016-2017, 2017-2018, 2019-2020, 2020-2021, 2021-2022, 2023-2024), Chemik Police ranked seventh last season. As head coach Dawid Michor continues at the helm, the team saw some important players leave, including outside hitter Martyna Grajber-Nowakowska and middle blockers Dominika Pierzchała and Magdalena Ociepa. Polish national team outside hitter Natalia Mędrzyk was the main signing made by Chemik Police, which also added setter Matylda Grabowska, outside hitter Wiktoria Przybyło and middle blockers Kinga Różyńska and Adrianna Rybak-Czyrniańska. Some of their key returning players are outside hitter Julia Hewelt, outside hitter Julia Orzoł and libero Agata Nowak.

ŁKS Commercecon Łódź

Three-time Tauron Liga champions (1982-1983, 2018-2019, 2022-2023) Commercecon Łódź finished second last season. After a brief stint with former player Zbigniew Bartan in charge at the end of the season, they start 2025-2026 with Adrian Chylińsk as their head coach. The offseason also saw some of their most important players leave, including outside hitters Zuzanna Górecka, Natalia Mędrzyk and Lana Ščuka, setter Marlena Kowalewska, libero Maria Stenzel and middle blocker Klaudia Alargieska, who continues with the team but won't play this season. Middle blocker Anna Obiała, Brazilian outside hitter Regiane Bidias and Ukrainian opposite Anastasiia Hryshchuk will be the pillars of the team as returning players, joining the new signings of Brazilian outside hitter Mariana Brambilla, Canadian outside hitter Thana Fayad, middle blocker Katarzyna Nowak and libero Anna Pawłowska.
