Tauron Liga long weekend can bring confirmations at the top and the bottom of the standings

With eight matches set to take place between Wednesday and Monday, the next six days can bring important definitions in the 2025-2026 Tauron Liga regular season.

Besides the six matches of the ninth leg of the second round, the Polish League will also have a pair of postponed duels being held in the period, turning into a critical moment of the season.

League leaders KS DevelopRes Rzeszów, who play seventh-placed Metalkas Pałac Bydgoszcz at home on Friday at 17:30 local time (16:30 UTC), are very close to securing the top seed for the playoffs. With 47 points, they need only another two to guarantee they will have the best campaign among the 12 competing teams at the end of the regular season.

Trailing them by seven points, PGE Budowlani Łódź can end the week with second place confirmed. Set to host ninth-placed MOYA Radomka Radom on Saturday at 12:30 (11:30 UTC), they have 47 points and need to at least keep their seven-point gap to third-placed UNI Opole.

Their rivals, however, play twice on the road, visiting fifth-placed ŁKS Commercecon Łódź on Wednesday, at 20:00 (19:00 UTC), and 11th-placed #VolleyWrocław on Monday, at the same time, and could bring the difference between them down to a single point.

UNI Opole also have a chance of securing at least a third-place spot this weekend. To do that, they need to improve their advantage over fourth-placed BKS BOSTIK ZGO Bielsko-Biała, which is now three points, to at least seven.

With 37 points, Bielsko-Biała will host 12th-placed EcoHarpoon NOWEL LOS Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki on Sunday at 20:00 (19:00 UTC) and are very close to securing a spot in the top four, which would give them homecourt advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

Fifth-placed Commercecon, which have 29, are the only team still capable of passing them before the end of the regular season. They play twice over the week, hosting UNI Opole on Wednesday and then visiting sixth-placed LOTTO Chemik Police on Friday, at 19:00 (18:00 UTC), and want to make the most of that to gain ground on their rivals.

Nowy Dwór need a miracle to avoid relegation

Sitting at the bottom of the standings with only five points, Nowy Dwór need a real miracle to avoid being sent to the Polish second division in 2026-2027. The only possibility for them to end the regular season above #VolleyWrocław, which have 14 points, is that they win their three remaining matches while only dropping one set and their rivals lose all their matches without winning any sets.

The ninth leg of the second round of the regular season will also have eighth-placed ITA TOOLS STAL Mielec facing tenth-placed Sokół & Hagric Mogilno on Thursday, at 19:30 (18:30 UTC).
