Before Saturday, Radomka Radom had last won a match on November 6, when they topped winless EcoHarpoon NOWEL LOS Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki. With six consecutive losses and no points won in the period, which culminated in the firing of head coach Jakub Głuszak two weeks ago, they went downhill in the standings, dropping from fourth to eighth.
With the three points earned on Saturday, Radomka Radom got to 14 (five wins, seven losses), holding on to eighth place, the last spot inside the qualification zone. Pałac are sixth with 17 (six wins, six losses), but can be passed by LOTTO Chemki Police, which didn't play in the leg yet.
Swiss outside hitter Julie Lengweiler was instrumental in Radomka Radom's long-awaited victory, leading the team with 22 points (20 kills, two blocks) and earning the match's MVP award. Opposite Monika Gałkowska, with 15 (13 kills, two blocks), also had a productive performance.
Pałac, which now have three losses in their last four matches, got 17 points (13 kills, three blocks, one ace) from Pola Nowakowska and another 13 (11 kills, one block, one ace) from fellow outside hitter Wiktoria Makarewicz.
