With the 2025-2026 Tauron Liga regular season set to conclude in approximately two months, the race for the eight playoff spots is intensifying as contenders vie for improved standings positions.

Set to face off on Friday, at 19:00 local time (20:00 UTC), the teams are separated by only three points. They are just around the cutoff line for the playoffs, with Pałac appearing inside the qualification zone with 17 points (six wins, seven losses) and STAL Mielec just outside of it, ranking ninth, with 14 (five wins, eight losses).

Looking to defend their playoff spot, Pałac will be looking to return to winning ways in the Tauron Liga after dropping their last two matches to MOYA Radomka Radom and Sokół & Hagric Mogilno. The results made the team drop a spot, going from sixth to seventh.

French opposite Victoria Foucher is Pałac's leading scorer in the season with 138 points, while team captain and middle blocker Marta Pol ranks fifth among the Tauron Liga blockers with 38 stops.

Their opponents STAL Mielec enter Friday's encounter fresh from a victory over #VolleyWrocław that made them end a fourth-match winless streak. The positive result didn't alter their position in the standings, but got them closer to the qualification zone for the playoffs.

Outside hitter Aleksandra Kazała has been one of the standouts in STAL Mielec's campaign, ranking fifth in the entire league in points with 207. On the backcourt, libero Julia Mazur has been in good form, appearing in fourth place among the Tauron Liga defenders with 167.

The two sides have met five times in the Polish League to date, and Pałac have triumphed in four of those encounters, including the most recent one, in November, when they got a three-set road victory.

Two more matches on Friday

The duel between Pałac and STAL Mielec won't be the only one opening the fourth leg of the second round of the regular season on Friday, as eighth-placed Radomka Radom will host league leaders KS DevelopRes Rzeszów at 17:30 (18:30 UTC) and 11th-placed #VolleyWrocław will play fifth-placed BKS BOSTIK ZGO Bielsko-Biała at 20:00 (21:00 UTC).
