Defending champions KS DevelopRes Rzeszów took care of business in front of their home fans on Friday and returned to the top of the standings in the 2025-2026 Tauron Liga.

Down to second place after suffering their first defeat of the season last weekend, the team from Rzeszów had an immediate opportunity to regain the top spot on Friday, when it faced then-leaders MOYA Radomka Radom in the fourth leg of the regular season, and took it, producing a strong performance to triumph 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-21).

With the victory, DevelopRes got back to first place by getting to ten points in the table, earned with three victories and one loss. Radomka, which were undefeated ahead of Friday's encounter with the defending champions, went down to third with eight points (three wins, one loss), being passed by PGE Budowlani Łódź, which also triumphed and have nine points, also with three positive results and one upset.

DevelopRes' victory counted on an outstanding performance from setter Katarzyna Wenerska, who earned the MVP award after dishing out 33 assists and scoring four points, with two blocks and two aces. Offensively, outside hitters Marrit Jasper and Julita Piasecka split the team's scoring load, with each of them registering 11 points.

Radomka's Swiss star Julie Lengweiler was the match's top scorer with 13 points (all in kills), while fellow outside hitter Martyna Piotrowska added another seven.

Budowlani win third in a row

Earlier on Friday, Budowlani got to second place thanks to their third-straight victory in the Tauron Liga. The team from Łódź, which dropped its first match in the season, dominated LOTTO Chemik Police to a three-set (25-21, 25-17, 25-20) victory in front of their home fans.

Outside hitter Karolina Drużkowska was their leading scorer with 14 points (ten kills, three blocks, one ace), followed by national team player Paulina Damaske, who tallied nine. Polish Olympian Natalia Mędrzyk produced 12 points for Chemik Police.

In the first match of the leg, on Thursday, UNI Opole defeated Sokół & Hagric Mogilno 3-1 (26-24, 25-23, 19-25, 25-21).

Three other matches will be held over the weekend. The only match set to take place on Saturday will have seventh-placed ITA TOOLS STAL Mielec hosting tenth-placed Metalkas Pałac Bydgoszcz at 12:30 local time (11:30 GMT). On Sunday, the leg will be completed with fourth-placed BKS BOSTIK ZGO Bielsko-Biała facing ninth-placed #VolleyWrocław at 14:45 (13:45 GMT) and 12th-placed EcoHarpoon NOWEL LOS Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki playing at home against eighth-placed LKS Commercecon Łódź at 17:30 (16:30 GMT).
