Budowlani, which entered Sunday's encounter in a six-match winning streak, had Polish national team outside hitter Paulina Damaske as their most productive player with 17 points (15 kills, one block, one ace), one more than Swiss opposite Maja Storck.
"I think that today we saw that against a team of their level, you can't lose focus for a single second," head coach Maciej Biernat reflected. "You need to be very patient to win points and build an advantage. We couldn't keep our level in the final moments of the sets, and that's a shame, because things could have been different."
The third leg started on Thursday, and, ironically, all five matches already concluded went to four sets. On the first day of action, tenth-placed Sokół & Hagric Mogilno defeated seventh-placed Metalkas Pałac Bydgoszcz 3-1 (21-25, 25-17, 25-17, 25-22) at home.
On Saturday, fourth-placed BKS BOSTIK ZGO Bielsko-Biała prevailed over sixth-placed LOTTO Chemik Police 3-1 (21-25, 25-23, 27-25, 25-15), while third-placed UNI Opole went on the road and triumphed against 12th-placed EcoHarpoon NOWEL LOS Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki also in four sets (25-14, 25-21, 27-29, 25-19).
