Playing on the road on Saturday, Commercecon handled the pressure well, dominating DevelopRes to secure a 3-1 (25-18, 26-24, 14-25, 25-23) victory that ended their rival’s eight-match winning streak in the Tauron Liga.

The team’s leading scorer with 21 points (19 kills, one block, one ace), Ukrainian opposite Anastasiia Hryshchuk was awarded as the player of the match. Slovenian outside hitter Lana Ščuka, with 13 points (12 kills, one block), and Polish national team middle blocker Klaudia Alagierska, with 12 (eight kills, four blocks), were other standouts on the winning side.

“This match showed that we’re a really good team and that we are very strong when we work together,” Ščuka reacted. “I believe that the most important thing was remaining focused throughout the match because we really wanted to win it.”

DevelopRes had both star middle blocker Agnieszka Korneluk, who registered an impressive eight blocks, and outside hitter Monika Fedusio matching Hryshchuk’s production with 21 points and Brazilian opposite Sabrina Machado producing another 15.

“We definitely have some things to work on as we want to continue developing as a team,” Sabrina reflected. “But I thought that our blocking and defense worked really well today. We thought they could be important today and took some time to work on them ahead of the match.”
