Despite the absence of star libero Maria Stenzel, Commercecon were still able to put on a solid performance and beat Chemik 3-0 (25-13, 29-27, 25-17) to get their third-straight victory in the Tauron Liga.

Ukrainian opposite Anastasiia Hryshchuk led the winners with 18 points (13 kills, three aces, two blocks) and was selected as the match’s MVP. Middle blocker Anna Obiała, with 15 points (eight kills, six blocks, one ace), and Paris Olympian outside hitter Natalia Mędrzyk, a former Chemik player, with 11 (all in kills), also got to double digits in scoring.

Chemik, which are ninth in the standings with three points (one win, four losses), got 14 points (11 kills, two blocks, one ace) from their captain and outside hitter Martyna Grajber-Nowakowska and another 11 (nine kills, one block, one ace) from 18-year-old opposite Julia Hewelt.

Korneluk shines with ten blocks

Second-placed DevelopRes played on Friday, at home, against seventh-placed #VolleyWrocław, and also got a clean sweep, winning 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-7). A Paris Olympian, star middle blocker Agnieszka Korneluk had a formidable performance with 14 points (ten blocks, four kills), one more than outside hitter Monika Fedusio, who was handed the MVP trophy.

“The keys to our victory were to serve well and our strong work on blocking and defense,” said Brazilian opposite Sabrina Machado. “That made the match easier for us. The more we practice and play together, I feel that we’re looking better and better on the court.”

The other team from Łódź, league leaders Budowlani overcame a significant challenge on Sunday, going to the road against sixth-placed MOYA Radomka Radom and returning home with a solid 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-18) victory. Italian opposite Terry Enweonwu led the team with 18 points (17 kills, one ace) and took home the MVP award.
