Saitama Ageo Medics will welcome Denso Airybees Koriyama to the Hanamaki City Gymnasium Annex at 13:05 local time (04:05 UTC) on both competition days. These will be the 27th and the 28th encounters between the two clubs. Ageo have won 16 of the previous 26 matches with Denso. Last season they met three times and Medics won twice, including the most recent meeting in February.
Captain Yuka Sato, Serbian star Sara Lozo and their teammates are on top of the current standings on a 10-2 win-loss ratio and 29 points. The squad around Brazilian star Rosamaria Montibeller has collected more points than Ageo, 33, but stand second on win-loss ratio, 11-3. Only if Denso win both games this weekend, they will surpass their opponents and take over the first place. However, if they exchange victories, they are running the risk of letting Osaka Marvelous climb to the top of the table.
To do that, third-placed Osaka Marvelous, standing on 9-3 and 27, will at least have to win both their home games against Okayama Seagulls, who are in 11th place on 3-7 and 11. The two matches at the Baycom General Gymnasium will also start at 13:05 (04:05) on Saturday and Sunday.
To add to the suspense, if Victorina Himeji win both of their home games against PFU BlueCats Ishikawa Kahoku, they will also surpass either Ageo or Denso in the standings. Before this weekend, Himeji are in fourth place on 9-3 and 23. Their visitors arrive at the Victorina Wink Gymnasium standing ninth in the table on 6-8 and 17. Saturday’s game is set to start at 13:05 (04:05), while Sunday’s starting time is 14:05 (05:05).
Defending champions NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki, who will represent Asia at December’s FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship, will entertain Aranmare Yamagata at the Culttz Kawasaki on Saturday at 14:05 (05:05) and on Sunday at 13:05 (04:05). NEC Red Rockets are running fifth on 8-4 and 26, while Aranmare are second from the bottom, in 13th place on 2-12 and 8.
Sixth-placed Astemo Rivale Ibaraki, on 7-5 and 19, will travel to Saga Hisamitsu Springs for two matches at the Happiness Arena, starting at 14:05 (05:05) on both competition days. The hosts are currently in eighth place on 7-7 and 22.
Seventh-placed Toray Arrows Shiga will also play on the road this weekend. Standing on 8-6 and 23, they will visit Queenseis Kariya, who occupy 10th place on 5-7 and 16. The two matches at the Park Arena Komaki will start at 13:05 (04:05).

Gunma Green Wings will have another shot at earning their first win of the season. Trailing bottom in 14th place on 0-10 and 1, they will host Kurobe Aqua Fairies at the ALSOK Gunma Arena at 14:05 (05:05) on both days of the weekend. Kurobe are two spots above Gunma in the standings, in 12th place on 3-11 and 9.
