Osaka Marvelous’s Kotona Hayashi

A full set of seven double headers marks the upcoming fifth leg of the women’s Daido Life SV.League regular season this weekend, with some really high-profile clashes highlighting the program. The first games will be played on Saturday, November 8, and the second - on Sunday, November 9.

Defending champions Osaka Marvelous, who have had an on-and-off start to the new season and take sixth place in the current standings on a 4-4 win-loss ratio and 15 points, will host Kurobe Aqua Fairies, who are running in second place on 7-1 and 17. Starring the likes of Kotona Hayashi, Ameze Miyabe and Belgian opposite Lise Van Hecke, the home team will entertain German outside hitter Lena Stigrot and her teammates at the Panasonic Arena on Saturday and Sunday at 14:05 local time (05:05 UTC).

A couple of big duels between the fourth and the third in the standings are coming up at the Saiden Chemical Arena this weekend. Saitama Ageo Medics will host Victorina Himeji at 15:05 (06:05) on both competition days. The home team, spearheaded by American opposite Izabella Rapacz, is running fourth on 4-2 and 13, while the visitors, featuring Airi Miyabe, Bulgarian middle blocker Mira Todorova and Italian opposite Camilla Mingardi, occupy third place on 6-2 and 18.

The only undefeated team in the league so far, NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki with Yukiko Wada, Yoshino Sato and Italian opposite Sylvia Nwakalor on the squad, will visit Denso Airybees Koriyama of Brazilian stars Rosamaria Montibeller and Sabrina Machado at the Fukushima Toyota Crown Arena. Both games start at 13:05 (04:05). NEC Red Rockets top the table on 8-0 and 22, while Denso stand ninth on 4-4 and 11.

Fifth-placed Saga Hisamitsu Springs, standing on 5-3 and 14, will travel to eighth-placed Gunma Green Wings, on 4-4 and 12. The games at the Izumi General Park Gymnasium serve off at 13:05 (04:05).

At the same time on Saturday and Sunday, Queenseis Kariya will host Astemo Rivale Ibaraki at the Park Arena Komaki. Kariya occupy seventh place on 4-4 and 13, while Astemo stand 10th on 3-3 and 9.

Table neighbors PFU BlueCats Ishikawa Kahoku and Toray Arrows Shiga will lock horns fighting to push further away from the bottom of the table. PFU are currently fourth from the bottom, in 11th place on 3-5 and 12, and Toray are third from the bottom, in 12th place on 2-6 and 5. The starting time of both fixtures at the Kanazawa City General Gymnasium is 13:05 (04:05).

In another double header this weekend, the two teams at the very bottom of the table will also cross swords with one another, battling for their first wins of the season. Aranmare Yamagata, trailing in 14th place on 0-8 and 0, will welcome Okayama Seagulls, 13th in the standings on 0-8 and 1, at the Yamagata Prefectural Sports Park Arena. The first match on Saturday is set to get underway at 14:05 (05:05), and the second on Sunday is scheduled at 12:05 (03:05).
