The upcoming weekend in the women’s Daido Life SV.League in Japan will once again offer a complete set of seven exciting double headers, with the first games played on Saturday, January 17, and the second – on Sunday, January 18. One of the match-ups in the spotlight will offer a head-to-head collision between the two teams at the very bottom of the current standings - Toray Arrows Shiga and Aranmare Yamagata.

Toray Arrows Shiga stand next to last in the table, in 13th place on a 3-19 win-loss ratio and 9 points. Aranmare Yamagata are stuck at the bottom, in 14th place on 1-21 and 4. So, to overtake the opponent and push up from the last place, Aranmare will have to collect the full six points from their trip to the Shiga Daihatsu Arena. The two games will serve off at 15:05 local time (06:05 UTC) on Saturday and Sunday. Both teams will arrive to this clash hoping to break long negative streaks in the league of 11 consecutive games for Torray Arrows and 12 for Aranmare. The head-to-head record between the two clubs in the league stands at 6-0 in wins Torray Arrows’ way.

The 13th leg in the women’s SV.League will open with a game between Denso Airybees Koriyama and Gunma Green Wings at 13:05 (04:05) on Saturday. Sunday’s game will get underway at the same starting time. The hosts from Koriyama are 10th in the current standings on 10-12 and 30. The visitors from Gunma stand in fifth place on 15-9 and 44. This weekend’s games are set to take place at the Daisen Arena Nishio.

Table leaders NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki will host Kurobe Aqua Fairies at the Tokyu Dresser Todoroki Arena at 14:05 (05:05) on Saturday and at 13:05 (04:05) on Sunday. NEC lead the standings convincingly on 20-2 and 56, and enter the weekend as heavy favorites against Kurobe, who are in eighth place on 12-10 and 33.

Saitama Ageo Medics, running in seventh place on 12-10 and 34, will visit Astemo Rivale Ibaraki at the Ikenokawa Sakura Arena at 14:05 (05:05) on both competition days. The home team occupies 11th place on 8-14 and 25.

At the same starting hour on both days, Victorina Himeji will welcome PFU BlueCats Ishikawa Kahoku to the Sun Arena Sendai. Himeji stand in fourth place on 16-8 and 46, while PFU are just two positions below them, in sixth place on 13-9 and 44.

Queenseis Kariya and Saga Hisamitsu Springs will close the competition day on Saturday. The first match of this double header will serve off at 18:05 (09:05), and the second on Sunday – at 14:05 (05:05). Before these games at the Wing Arena Kariya, hosts Kariya are in ninth place on 12-12 and 41, while their visitors are running in second place on 17-5 and 46. This will be the second double header between the two teams this season. When Saga hosted Kariya in October, they traded four-set victories.

Defending champions Osaka Marvelous will entertain Okayama Seagulls in the weekend’s closing match on Sunday at 17:05 (08:05). Saturday’s fixture is scheduled at the same starting time. Both games will be hosted at the Asue Arena Osaka. Marvelous occupy third place in the standings on 16-8 and 50. Their opponents from Okayama are third from the bottom, in 12th place on 3-19 and 12. Osaka picked up the full six points from their visit to Okayama in November after winning the first match by 3-1 and the second by 3-0.
