Osaka Bluteon will try to extend their winning streak of eight consecutive matches in the SV.League as they host Hiroshima Thunders at the Ookini Arena Maishima. The two games will open the two competition days – February 14 and 15 – serving off at 12:35 local time (03:35 UTC) on both Saturday and Sunday. Osaka have been dominating the head-to-head series against Hiroshima, in which they have won the last seven encounters, all in straight sets, including the two games this season, in late November, also at home. In the longer term, Bluteon have won 31 of the last 33 meetings with Thunders. The FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship silver medalists are currently running second in the SV.League on a 22-4 win-loss ratio and 64 points. Hiroshima stand on 11-13 and 35 in the fifth place.
In another high-profile match-up, Tokyo Great Bears will welcome JTEKT Stings Aichi to the iconic Ariake Coliseum at 14:05 (05:05) on both competition days. Tokyo are just three points below Hiroshima in the table, in sixth place on 11-13 and 32, while Aichi occupy third place on 16-10 and 46. JTEKT have won the last five encounters with Great Bears, but the two teams have not come across one another this season yet.
Suntory Sunbirds Osaka are the clear favorites against Nagano Tridents in the meetings between the first and the last in the standings. The table leaders will entertain the table trailers at the Asue Arena Osaka on Saturday and Sunday at 13:05 (04:05). Riding the wave of a 25-game winning streak in the league, Suntory Sunbirds top the standings on 25-1 and 72, while Nagano have been sliding down a negative streak of 19 losses in a row and are stuck in 10th place on 3-23 and 14. The last time Tridents managed to beat Suntory in the league was back in October 2022. Since then, Sunbirds have been on a run of 15 consecutive three-point victories in the head-to-head series, including the two home shutouts this season, in November.
Fourth-placed Wolfdogs Nagoya will play on the road this weekend. They will visit Toray Arrows Shizuoka at the Konohana Arena at 14:05 (05:05) on both match days. Nagoya stand on 15-11 and 45, while their hosts are on 9-15 and 27 in seventh place. This is the second time Toray Arrows host Wolfdogs this season. The first double header in November went 3-1 and 3-0 the way of the visitors from Nagoya.
Table neighbors Nippon Steel Sakai Blazers and Voreas Hokkaido will meet at the Ohama Daishin Arena in Osaka at 15:05 (06:05) on Saturday and at 14:05 (05:05) on Sunday. Hosts Sakai are in eighth place on 8-18 and 24, while Voreas are just below them, in ninth place on 6-18 and 19, with two games in hand. When Voreas hosted Sakai in November, the two teams traded three-point victories.
