Russian opposite Dmitriy Muserskiy was the main driving force in Suntory Sunbirds Osaka’s hard-fought 3-1 (22-25, 25-23, 25-22, 28-26) turnaround victory over Wolfdogs Nagoya as he led his team with 27 points, including four kill blocks and three aces. Outside hitter Ran Takahashi contributed another 18 points. His Polish cross-court teammate Aleksander Sliwka chipped in with 11 points, while middle blocker Taishi Onodera impressed with four kill blocks towards a 10-point total. Nagoya’s Dutch opposite Nimir Abdel-Aziz fired as many as six aces and raised three kill blocks towards a match-high 33 points. Another two Wolfdogs – outsides Taito Mizumachi and Slovenia’s Tine Urnaut – reached the double digits in scoring with 19 and 11 points, respectively.

“There were so many developments and ups and downs. I want to thank Wolfdogs Nagoya for the great fight. We've played against them many times this season, and every game was really exciting,” said Suntory’s French head coach Olivier Lecat. “I'm really proud of the Sunbirds players. It was a very close game, but we were able to keep our concentration until the end. We know what our goal is and what we need to do to achieve it. We'd like to rest well and be fully prepared for the final.”

The championship final will be played in a best-of-three format in Tokyo on May 3, on May 5 and potentially on May 6.
