Hiroshima, Tokyo, Toray Arrows and Voreas in SV.League action this weekend

Only four teams will be in action in the men’s Daido Life SV.League in Japan this weekend. Hiroshima Thunders, Tokyo Great Bears, Toray Arrows Shizuoka and Voreas Hokkaido are about to catch up with the rest of the teams in the league in terms of number of matches played. Two double headers with their participation are on the 16^th-leg program for Saturday and Sunday.

Voreas Hokkaido and Hiroshima Thunders will open both competition days at 13:05 local time (04:05 UTC). Voreas will entertain Hiroshima at the Recruit Staffing Rick&Sue Asahikawa Gymnasium. The home team is second from the bottom of the current standings, in ninth place on a 7-19 win-loss ratio and 22 points. Hiroshima, on the other hand, are well in a position to look forward to advancement to the quarterfinal playoffs, as they stand fifth on 12-14 and 37. Thunders hosted Voreas for a double header back in November and swept both matches in straight sets.

Tokyo Great Bears and Toray Arrows Shizuoka will lock horns in the other double header. The two games at the iconic Ariake Coliseum in the Japanese capital will serve off at 14:05 local time (05:05 UTC) on both competition days of the weekend. The two teams are neighbors in the table, standing on both sides of the cut-off line for the quarterfinals. The gap between them is quite large, but the upcoming matches will present Toray Arrows with the opportunity to narrow it down substantially, should they bring home two victories. Hosts Tokyo are in sixth place on 12-14 and 35, while their visitors from Shizuoka are seventh on 9-17 and 27. When Toray Arrows hosted Great Bears in October, they traded victories. The visitors from Tokyo persevered through a five-set battle to win the first match. The hosts from Shizuoka got back at them with a four-set win the following day.
