Under pressure after getting negative results last week in the 2025-2026 Brazilian Women's Superliga, Dentil Praia Clube and SESI Vôlei Bauru are set to face off in the last and potentially most meaningful match of the fifth leg of the regular season.

The duel is scheduled for Friday, at 21:30 local time (00:30 UTC, Saturday), at the UTC Arena, in Uberlândia, and will reunite past and present Brazilian national team players on both sides of the net.

Only a few weeks away from representing Brazil at the upcoming 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship, Praia are far from the top of the Superliga standings, currently appearing in seventh place with six points (two wins, three losses). The reigning South American champions prevailed in their first two matches of the season, but then endured three consecutive losses for the first time since 2020-2021 and went down in the standings

With a new coach in Portuguese Rui Moreira, Praia lost to SESC RJ Flamengo, Fluminense and rivals Gerdau Minas in the last two weeks. Returning home to play in front of their home fans, they have Olympic champion middle blocker Adenízia Ferreira and Bulgarian outside hitter Maria Koleva as their leading scorers with 59 points, one more than American opposite Morgahn Fingall.

Last year's runners-up SESI played only four matches so far and had success in their first three. On Sunday, however, they hosted Fluminense in Bauru and were swept, now appearing in fifth place with eight points, three behind league leaders Osasco São Cristovão Saúde.

Venezuelan outside hitter Roslandy Acosta has been the main offensive option used by Olympic champion setter Dani Lins, leading the team with 60 points. Middle blocker Mayany Souza and American opposite Nia Reed, a former Praia player, come next with 46 and 41 points, respectively.

SESI won four of the last five encounters between the teams, including a pair in last year's Superliga semifinals.

Minas and Tijuca play on Wednesday

The fifth leg of the regular season begins on Wednesday, with second-placed Minas facing 11th-placed Tijuca Tênis Clube at 18:30 (21:30 UTC). On Thursday, fifth-placed Fluminense meet 12th-placed Renasce Sorocaba at 18:30 (21:30 UTC) and league leaders Osasco visit sixth-placed Sancor Maringá Vôlei three hours later.
