Gerdau Minas’ and SESC RJ Flamengo’s hopes of passing Osasco São Cristovão Saúde for the top spot of the 2025-2026 Brazilian Women’s Superliga standings during the sixth leg of the regular season didn’t last long.

The defending champions were the first to play in the week, hosting Paulistano Barueri on Monday, and swept their rivals (25-19, 25-18, 25-21), continuing undefeated.

The first team to get to six victories in the Superliga, Osasco reached 17 points in the standings. Also undefeated, Minas have 14 and Flamengo have 12 – both teams are yet to play, and Minas can only pass Osasco if they win 3-0 and have a better point ratio.

The third-best scorer of the Superliga right now, Argentine opposite Bianca Cugno earned the match’s MVP award after scoring 14 points in Osasco’s victory, with 13 kills and one ace. The match’s top scorer, however, was American outside hitter Caitie Bird, who produced 17, with 16 kills and one ace.

“I’m very happy for the victory and for the award,” Cugno reacted. “We were ready for a difficult match, but I think we did very well both tactically and technically, and that helped us get another win tonight.”

Barueri, who rank eighth, with six points (one win, five losses), got 13 points (11 kills, one block, one ace) from opposite Jheovana Emanuele and another ten (nine kills, one block) from Brazilian national team outside hitter Aline Segato.
