The most successful women's team in the Brazilian Cup, Osasco São Cristovão Saúde increased their separation from the rest of the pack on Saturday, when they won the tournament for a record fifth time.

The reigning Superliga champions faced Gerdau Minas in the event's gold medal match in Londrina and prevailed 3-1 (25-23, 26-28, 25-20, 25-17), successfully defending the title they had won in 2025.

Osasco now have five Brazilian Cup titles, adding to their previous victories in 2009, 2014, 2018 and 2025. Minas, which won the tournament in 2019, 2021 and 2023, were looking to catch them with four gold medals.

This was Osasco's second title in 2025-2026, joining their victory at the Brazilian Supercup at the start of the season. The Brazilian heavyweights also earned silver in the South American Championship last week and claimed bronze in both the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship and the São Paulo State Championship.

Osasco's main scorer in their semifinal victory over SESC RJ Flamengo on Friday, Argentine opposite Bianca Cugno did it again in the final against Minas, leading the team with 24 points (21 kills, three blocks).

The match's MVP award went to outside hitter Tiffany Abreu, who produced 15 points (13 kills, one block, one ace) off the bench and was the team's third-best scorer, behind American outside hitter Caitie Baird, who registered 17 (14 kills, two aces, one block).

"I couldn't be any happier," said libero and team captain Camila Brait, who earned the tournament's MVP award. "This team is amazing, and the coaching staff led by Luizomar (de Moura, head coach) is incredible. I knew we could show a lot this week, and we did it. We couldn't play at our best in the South American Championship and had only one day at home before packing and coming here, but we managed to reset and focused on playing our absolute best this weekend."

Minas' most productive players in the gold medal match were outside hitters Glayce Vasconcelos, who tallied 17 points (14 kills, two aces, one block), and Hilary Johnson, who added 16 (15 kills, one block).

With the Brazilian Cup completed, both teams now turn their attention to the final weeks of the Superliga regular season. They both return to action on Friday, with fourth-placed Osasco hosting sixth-placed Fluminense and leaders Minas playing second-placed Flamengo in a match that will put the top spot in the standings in play.
