The 2025-2026 Brazilian Women's Superliga is set to resume after a week's break on Thursday, and the very first day of action in the seventh leg of the second round of the regular season could bring a significant change at the top of the standings.

Currently in second place, Gerdau Minas make the trip to Paraná determined to return home as the new league leaders, following their match against Sancor Maringá Vôlei, scheduled for 20:00 local time (23:00 UTC).

Minas have 44 points (15 wins, two losses) and will get to pass leaders SESC RJ Flamengo, which have 46 (16 wins, two losses), for first place if they manage to take all three points against the sixth-placed Maringá (25 points).

Interestingly, Minas find themselves in that position in part thanks to Maringá, which caused possibly the biggest upset of the season one week ago, beating Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro.

Minas get to Thursday's encounter undefeated in their last six matches, in a run that includes a sweep of Maringá in the Brazilian Cup quarterfinals. If they manage to repeat that result, they will remove Flamengo from the top of the standings for the first time since mid-December.

With their confidence boosted after their incredible victory over Flamengo, Maringá cannot move up in the standings this week, as they are ten points behind fifth-placed SESI Vôlei Bauru, but a victory would get them one step closer to confirming their presence in the Superliga playoffs.

This will be the third duel involving the teams in the season, and Minas also triumphed in straight sets in the first round of the regular season, in November. The last time the teams played in Maringá, during the 2024-2025 Superliga, the home team triumphed, securing their only victory against Minas in the last 11 matches.

Three matches on Friday

The seventh leg of the second round of the regular season will be completed on Friday, when three more matches will be held. The first of them, scheduled for 18:30 (21:30 UTC), will have ninth-placed Paulistano Barueri meeting seventh-placed Fluminense.

Thirty minutes later, 12th-placed Renasce Sorocaba and 11th-placed Tjuca Tênis Clube start a big battle against relegation. The last match of the week will have eighth-placed Batavo Mackenzie playing fourth-placed Dentil Praia Clube at 21:30 (00:30 UTC, Saturday).

Brazilian Women’s Superliga – Match Schedule & Results

The seventh leg of the second round of the regular season will have only four matches this week because last season's champions and runners-up Osasco São Cristovão Saúde and SESI are in Lima competing in the Women's Club South American Championship and played their matches against Flamengo and Brasília Vôlei in advance.
