After some inconsistent performances in the 2024-2025 Brazilian Women’s Superliga, defending champions Gerdau Minas seem to have found their best form in the sixth leg of the second round of the regular season.
The Belo Horizonte side was on the road on Thursday in the first match of the leg and had an impressive display to dominate Pinheiros to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-23) victory in São Paulo.

The three points earned with the sweep took Minas to the top of the standings with 39 points (14 wins, three losses), but they can return to second place still on Thursday as Dentil Praia Clube, who have 38 (14 wins, two losses), play Fluminense. Minas, are however, guaranteed to end the week as one of the league’s top two teams despite the threat of SESI Vôlei Bauru, who have 36 points, and Osasco São Cristovão Saúde, who have 35. Pinheiros are 11th with 11 points (four wins, 11 losses) and are battling to avoid relegation.
The second-best scorer in the Superliga, Brazilian national team opposite Kisy Nascimento was a central figure in Minas’ road win, leading the team offensively with a match-high 18 points (15 kills, two blocks, one ace). The 25-year-old point-scorer was awarded the Player of the Match.
“We’re very happy that we got to win today,” she said. “It was a difficult match and we entered the court knowing how important it would be to take all three points as some opponents got closer to us over the last few weeks. Things got a little complicated at the end of the third set, but the double sub worked well and set us up to take the victory.”
