In front of about 3,300 fans in the stands on Sunday, Valsa Group Modena battled it out for a 3-2 (25-23, 23-25, 25-23, 16-25, 15-7) rollercoaster win over their hosts Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza and levelled the best-of-five series at 2-2 to prompt a fifth encounter in Modena next Sunday. As many as five Modena players reached the double digits in scoring, led by outside hitter Luca Porro with 16. Middle blocker Pardo Mati spiked at a 91% success rate and added two aces and two kill blocks to finish with 14 points and claim the Most Valuable Player (MVP) honors. Austrian opposite Paul Buchegger (four aces), middle Giovanni Sanguinetti and Belarusian outside Uladzislau Davyskiba added 13, 11 and 10 points, respectively. Turkish outside Efe Mandiraci produced a match-high 17 points for Gas Sales.

Saturday’s game was resolved in straight sets. Regular season runners-up bounced back from the unexpected home loss in game three with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-20) sweep of game four on the road at Allianz Milan to close the series at 3-1 in wins and move on to the SuperLega semifinals for the first time in the club’s history. An encounter with Cucine Lube Civitanova is awaiting them on the road to the championship playoff. Allianz’s SuperLega season will continue with the fifth-place playoffs. Malian outside Noumory Keita spearheaded Verona to victory with a match-high 18 points. Brazilian opposite Darlan Souza and Slovenian outside and captain Rok Mozic added 13 and 12 points, respectively, while libero Matteo Staforini picked up the match MVP award.
