It is time for the 2025-2026 Italian SuperLega Credem Banca men’s volleyball season to get underway. Allianz Milan and Valsa Group Modena will be the first to hit the court on Monday evening at 20:00 local time (18:00 UTC). Another three fixtures are set to serve off half an hour later. The first leg will round off on Tuesday with two more games. And, of course, once again it will all be live on VBTV.

In the season opener on Monday, Allianz Milan will welcome Valsa Group Modena at the Allianz Cloud. Last season, Allianz finished in fifth place. They will now be conducted by Brazilian playmaker Fernando Kreling, while promising Belgian opposite Ferre Reggers will continue to be relied upon to bring in the points. Modena finished the previous championship in sixth place, losing the final for the fifth place to the team from Milan. There is plenty of quality on the Modena squad around recent world champions Simone Anzani and Luca Porro.

2025 Italian SuperLega silver medalists and national cup winners Cucine Lube Civitanova will start the new championship with a home game at the Eurosuole Forum against Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina on Monday at 20:30 (18:30). Lube’s stellar squad is highlighted by 2025 world champions Fabio Balaso, Mattia Bottolo and Giovanni Gargiulo and the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship’s best scorer Aleksandar Nikolov of Bulgaria. Grottazzolina deemed their rookie 2024-2025 season successful, as they finished 10th and avoided relegation. They also have their solid Bulgarian connection in World Championship silver medalists Iliya Petkov and Georgi Tatarov.

At the same time in Verona, at the Pala Agsm AIM, Rana Verona will entertain the team that eliminated them in last season’s playoffs, Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza. Verona, who finished in seventh place, will once again rely on Slovenia’s Rok Mozic and Mali’s Noumory Keita to deliver the points, but now they will be fed by magical American setter Micah Christenson. Fourth-placed Gas Sales have parted ways with some of the club’s stars from last season, but with world champion Gianluca Galassi and mighty Cuban Robertlandy Simon among those who stayed on the squad, they should still be a team to watch.

One more game will be played at 20:30 (18:30) on Monday and it will feature the debut of SuperLega rookies MA Acqua San Bernardo Cuneo, starring non other than legendary Italian opposite Ivan Zaytsev. They will visit Sonepar Padova Padua at the Kioene Arena. Padova finished the previous season in eighth place. They have now strengthened their squad with Bulgarian World Championship silver medalist Boris Nachev, among others.

Itas Trentino Trento will start the defense of their 2025 title on Tuesday at 20:30 (18:30) with an away match at Cisterna Volley. Along with established stars like Alessandro Michieletto, Daniele Lavia, Riccardo Sbertoli and USA’s Gabriel Garcia, the champions have also attracted French opposite Theo Faure to shine on the squad. Faure’s previous team, Cisterna, who finished ninth last season, has signed in another international standout, Dutch middle blocker Fabian Plak.

Also on Tuesday at the same time, Vero Volley Monza will host Sir Susa Scai Perugia at the OpiquadArena. Vero Volley barely avoided relegation last season by finishing second from the bottom, in 11th place. They will certainly try to do much better this season with some new additions to the roster highlighted by Bulgarian outside Martin Atanasov, another silver medalist of this year’s World Championship in the Philippines. Reigning European champions, Supercoppa Italiana laureates and SuperLega bronze medalists Sir have kept most of their stellar roster and look set to battle for every trophy available with the likes of Simone Giannelli, Wassim Ben Tara, Yuki Ishikawa, Kamil Semeniuk, Oleh Plotnytskyi, Agustin Loser, Sebastian Sole, Roberto Russo and Massimo Colaci shining on the squad.
