Perugia are two-time Coppa Italia winners

Can Kioene Padova defeat the team currently at the top of the SuperLega Credem Banca standings, Sir Safety Conad Perugia, when the two clash in a quarterfinal match of the Del Monte Coppa Italia on Wednesday night? The winners will take on Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza in a semifinal on March 5, with Allianz Milano and Itas Trentino already qualified for the other.

“Being able to play this match is a reward for the good first round we have had," said Padova's second coach Matteo Tyrolese. "We face a team who have goals which are different to ours, and it will not be easy after the wave of infections that has involved our players and part of the staff. We will go to Perugia with motivation and to do our best to put them in difficulty, knowing that Wednesday will be our first match after two weeks of forced stop."

“Padova are a team that play well and are having a good season," said Perugia setter Simone Giannelli. "Access to the quarterfinals of the Italian Cup also demonstrates this because entering the top eight of the SuperLega is never a foregone conclusion. They bet a lot on their serve, they defend a lot and force you to play to the maximum to bring home a result. We have already seen it in the league, it was a tough match. On Wednesday, I expect another match like this, they will come to Perugia calmly and will certainly do their best. We will have to do that too, we want to look for our best game and our goal is to gain access to the Final Four."

It's a must see battle and one you can watch live on Wednesday at 20.30 CET/19.30 GMT on Volleyball TV.
