A total of 52 Men’s World Championship matches will be played in Poland and Slovenia from August 26 through September 11. Twenty-two of those games will take place in Katowice and Gliwice.
The Spodek competition hall in Katowice will host two of the six round-robin pools of the first stage of the World Championship. Pools C and A will alternate with two games a day on the six competition days from August 26 through 31.
Defending world champions and co-hosts Poland lead Pool C. They will lock horns with the teams of Bulgaria, Mexico and the United States. Pool A features the squads of Puerto Rico, Serbia, Tunisia and Ukraine.
All pool winners, all pool runners-up and the best four of the six third-placed teams will qualify for the Round of 16. Poland’s Arena Gliwice will welcome four of the Round of 16 matches, two on September 4 and another two on September 6, as well as two quarterfinals on September 8.
For the two semifinals on September 10 and the two medal matches on September 11, the World Championship will return to Katowice. However, the tickets for those four deciding games will be released on August 9 at noon local time.
It will be the second time Poland host a Men’s World Championship. The central European country welcomed the sport’s flagship event eight years ago, in 2014, when their national team claimed the second of their three world titles in history.
