Men's U21 World Championship 2021 competition host city

The 2021 edition of the FIVB Volleyball Men's U21 World Championship will take place in Italy and Bulgaria. In Italy, the tournament will be played in Cagliari and Carbonia, on the island of Sardinia. Matches in Bulgaria will be held in Sofia.

Cagliari and Carbonia

The capital city of Sardinia, Cagliari is located on the island's southern coast. Its hilltop castle and medieval walls are features of the city, which also boasts a cathedral among other historical landmarks.

Also located in the south of the island, about an hour by car from Cagliari, Carbonia was founded in 1938 as a response to the development of the local mining industry. The population of the town has grown since with much of the local worforce employed in industry and the tertiary sector.

Sofia

Sofia is the capital of Bulgaria and the largest city in the country. A long and rich history is represented by a number of landmarks, including St. Alexander Nevski cathedral and the bustling hub of Vitosha Boulevard. Sofia is a city with a strong tradition in volleyball and has hosted numerous top-tier events including matches in the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship, which was co-hosted by Italy and Bulgaria.
