Wash4Green Pinerolo continue to be the first team looking at the qualification zone for the playoffs of the 2024-2025 Lega Volley Femminile Serie A1 Tigotà from the outside after the conclusion of the tenth leg of the regular season on Sunday, but their situation improved after a massive road win over Megabox Ondulati Savio Vallefoglia.

Pinerolo started the weekend three points below the line in night place, but managed to close the gap to just two after a dramatic 3-2 (25-20, 25-23, 22-25, 20-25, 22-20) road win over their direct opponents in Pesaro on Sunday.

Now, they have 13 points (four wins, six losses) and are just two behind Vallefoglia, who close the playoff picture right now, with 15 (four wins, six losses). The victory also helped Pinerolo gain ground on both seventh-placed Bergamo, who fell to Numia Vero Volley Milano 3-1 (25-20, 25-21, 22-25, 25-22) and have 15 points, and sixth-placed Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri ’76, who lost to Savino Del Bene Scandicci 3-1 (25-16, 21-25, 25-18, 25-12), and continue with 17.

Led by Olympic champion setter Carlotta Cambi, Pinerolo benefited from strong performances from three of their hitters to secure their first road victory of the season. Leading the team offensively was 29-year-old outside hitter Elena Perinelli, who tallied 22 points (21 kills, one block) and was selected as the Player of the Match.

“These two points are worth a lot for us,” she reflected. “Coming here and taking the win is very difficult and I’m happy for the team’s performance, we deserved it. I feel like up to this point we haven’t been able to show much of what we’ve been doing in practice during matches and hopefully this win is a new start for us.”

Polish veteran opposite Malwina Smarzek, with 18 points (15 kills, three blocks), and team captain and middle blocker Yasmina Akrari, with 16 (ten kills, four blocks, two aces), were also vastly productive for Pinerolo.

Vallefoglia had the match’s top scorer in American outside hitter Simone Lee, who left the court with 27 points (24 kills, three blocks). Albanian opposite Erblira Bici came next, with 20, all in kills.

With 21 points, Czech opposite Gabriela Orvošová played a big role in their victory.

League leaders Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano secured their 11th-straight victory to remain undefeated at the top of the standings with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-23) home win over Igor Gorgonzola Novara. Swedish opposite Isabelle Haak tallied 16 points and was the match’s top scorer.
