Having last appeared in the 2025-2026 Lega Femminile Serie A1 Tigotà by the end of November, Numia Vero Volley Milano will be back in action in the Italian League this weekend, determined to regain the ground they lost during their absence.

The Supercoppa Italiana champions were third in the standings when they last got on the court, on November 30, but went down to fifth ahead of the start of the second round of the regular season this weekend.

Milano earned nine wins and four losses in the first half of the season, accumulating 29 points in their campaign. After their most recent match, they only trailed league leaders Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano (40) and second-placed Savino Del Bene Scandicci (34), who have both also been away from the Italian League due to their participation in the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship in Brazil.

Ranked fourth and fifth at the time, respectively, Igor Gorgonzola Novara and Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri '76 took full advantage of Milano's absence, winning their most recent matches and passing their rivals in the standings - Novara are now third, with 32 points (11 wins, three losses), while Chieri appear in fourth place with 29 (ten wins, three losses).

Set to face eighth-placed Bergamo on the road on Sunday, at 20:30 local time (19:30 UTC), Milano can only pass Chieri this weekend. To do so, they need to earn more points than their rivals, who will host ninth-placed Il Bisonte Firenze on Saturday, at 20:30 (19:30 UTC).

"We're excited to start the second half of the season and looking to achieve our goals," outside hitter Khalia Lanier said.

Novara, who now have one more match played than Milano, will be at home against last-placed Omag-Mt San Giovanni In Marignano on Sunday, at 17:00 (16:00 UTC), while Conegliano and Scandicci are set to miss another week of Italian League action while they play in Brazil.

Two other matches will be held on Sunday, at 17:00 (16:00 UTC), as part of the first leg of the second round of the regular season, with seventh-placed Megabox Ondulati Del Savio Vallefoglia hosting 13th-placed Bartoccini-Mc Restauri Perugia and 11th-placed Honda Cuneo Granda Volley playing at home against tenth-placed CBF Balducci HR Macerata.
