The rivalry between the teams is developing into the biggest one in the country after they met in eight finals over the last four years, with Conegliano coming out on top in each of them – they decided two editions of each of the Lega Femminile (2021-2022, 2022-2023), the Coppa Italia (2022-2023, 2023-2024) and the Supercoppa (2023, 2024) and one of the European Champions League (2023-2024) and the Courmayeur Cup (2024).
The match will also reunite seven Paris Olympic champions, with Paola Egonu, Miriam Sylla, Alessia Orro and Anna Danesi featuring for Milano and Monica De Gennaro, Sarah Fahr and Marina Lubian appearing for Conegliano. The teams have a myriad of international stars a well, such as Conegliano’s Brazil’s Gabriela ‘Gabi’ Guimarães, Poland's Joanna Wołosz, Sweden’s Isabelle Haak and China’s Zhu Ting and Milano’s the Netherlands’ Nika Daalderop, Serbia’s Hena Kurtagić and Japan’s Satomi Fukudome.
Conegliano are the only undefeated team in the Italian League right now and are clear at the top of standings with 27 points (nine wins). This is, however, a golden opportunity for Milano, who are second, with 22 (eight wins, one loss), to gain ground and keep the race for first place open as the season progresses.
