Scandicci were the last ones among the Italian teams to debut in the Champions League, taking down Romania's CSM Volei Alba-Blaj in Firenze on Thursday. Second in the Italian League with 31 points (11 wins, two losses), they will now have two full days of rest before facing 11th-placed CBF Balducci HR Macerata on the road Sunday, at 17:00 (16:00 UTC).

Fifth-placed Reale Mutua Chieri '76 were also in action in a European tournament this week, having defeated Hungary's Vasas Óbuda on the road in the first leg of their CEV Cup Round of 32 duel on Thursday. In the Italian League, the team is set to travel to visit 14th-placed Omag-Mt San Giovanni In Marignano on Sunday, at 17:00 (16:00 UTC).

The only Italian defeat in European competition this week came with Megabox Ondulati Del Savio Vallefoglia dropping their Challenge Cup first-leg Round of 16 match to AEK Athens on the road in Greece on Tuesday. Ranked eighth in the Italian League, they will try to recover on the road against 13th-placed Wash4Green Monviso Volley on Sunday, at 15:30 (14:30 UTC).
