Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano's time as the only undefeated team in the 2025-2026 Lega Femminile Serie A1 Tigotà came to an end on Saturday, when, after 16 consecutive victories, the defending champions were finally taken down.

Playing in front of over 5,000 fans at the Allianz Cloud and having star opposite Paola Egonu in fantastic form, Numia Vero Volley Milano repeated what they had done in the Supercoppa Italiana Fineco, in October, and defeated the Panthers 3-1 (22-25, 25-19, 31-29, 25-20) in the match that ended the fourth leg of the second round of the regular season.

Despite the defeat, Conegliano continue safe at the top of the standings with 46 points (16 wins, one loss), three clear of second-placed Savino Del Bene Scandicci. Milano's position also didn't change, as they continue in fifth place, but getting to 37 points (12 wins, five losses), they are now within striking distance of third-placed Igor Gorgonzola Novara (39) and fourth-placed Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri '76 (38).

Milano's captain Egonu was unstoppable in the Derby and earned the match's MVP award after having her most productive performance of the season, generating 32 points for her team with 31 kills and one block. A former Conegliano player, American outside hitter Khalia Lanier scored 14 (all in kills), while Serbian middle blocker Hena Kurtagić added 12 in an all-around performance that saw her register five kills, five blocks and two aces.

"I'm very happy for the team, the club and the fans, because tonight we showed what we can do," said libero Eleonora Fersino. "We were facing a difficult moment after our defeat to Vallefoglia, but got back into the gym with the right mentality and went back to work. We didn't start the first set well, but fought back and ended it playing much better. And after that, I think we did a good job of imposing our game even if Conegliano also played well."

Conegliano's star outside hitter Gabriela 'Gabi' Guimarães was their main offensive weapon in the match, leading the team with 18 points (all in kills), three more than Swedish opposite Isabelle Haak. Chinese outside hitter Zhu Ting, with 11 points (ten kills, one block), and Olympic champion middle blocker Marina Lubian, with ten (six kills, three blocks, one ace), also got to double digits in scoring.

Scandicci win another one and get closer to Conegliano

World champions Scandicci benefited from Conegliano's first defeat in the Italian League and cut the difference between the teams in the standings to just three points thanks to their 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-17) victory over Il Bisonte Firenze on Friday, their seventh straight positive result in the season.

American Olympic medalist outside hitter Avery Skinner carried Scandicci's offense with 19 points (18 kills, one ace), four more than star opposite Ekaterina Antropova. Dutch national team outside hitter Jolien Knollema was Firenze's top scorer with 12 points (11 kills, one block).

Third-placed Novara had to work hard to win on Friday, needing all five sets (25-23, 23-25, 18-25, 25-18, 15-12) to beat Bergamo at home. Fourth-placed Chieri played on the road and got the job done in four, topping Eurotek Laica UYBA Busto Arsizio 3-1 (25-20, 33-31, 19-25, 25-22).

The fourth leg of the second round of the regular season also had Megabox Ondulati Del Savio Vallefoglia sweeping (25-19, 25-20, 28-26) Omag-Mt San Giovanni In Marignano, Honda Cuneo Granda Volley beating Wash4Green Monviso Volley 3-1 (24-26, 25-19, 25-15, 25-23) and CBF Balducci HR Macerata triumphing over Bartoccini-Mc Restauri Perugia in the tie-breaker (22-25, 29-27, 25-22, 18-25, 15-13).
