The positive result earned Conegliano three more points in the standings, elevating their total to 23. They now have a four-point lead over second-placed Savino Del Bene Scandicci and are as many as seven ahead of third-placed Milano well before the regular season reaches its halfway mark.
The victory also served as payback for the Panthers, who fell to Milano just over two weeks ago in the Supercoppa Italiana, missing their first opportunity to win a trophy in 2025-2026 and failing to win the tournament for the first time since 2017-2018.
Conegliano counted on their two main offensive stars to take Milano down on Wednesday, as while Swedish opposite Isabelle Haak led all scorers with 26 points (22 kills, three aces, one block), Brazilian outside hitter Gabriela 'Gabi' Guimarães added another 19, with 16 kills, two aces and one block. Olympic champion libero Monica De Gennaro earned the match's MVP award.
"It was amazing to get this win at home and feel the energy of our fans," Haak said. "It was tough, our defense didn't start well, but we improved after the second set. We made some technical adjustments, and that helped us get the win."
