Defending champions Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano stand as the only undefeated team in the 2025-2026 Lega Femminile Serie A1 Tigotà after they downed Igor Gorgonzola Novara in the fifth leg of the first round of the regular season.

The teams met on Saturday in Novara, and the Panthers delivered a strong performance to take their opponents, who were also undefeated ahead of the start of the match, down 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-21) and claim their fifth victory in the season.

The victory has put Conegliano alone at the top of the standings, with 14 points (five wins), while Novara remains behind with 11 points (four wins, one loss). The Courmayeur Cup winners can be passed by Savino Del Bene Scandicci, which also have 11 points (four wins, one loss) and play Omag-Mt San Giovanni In Marignano on the road on Sunday, at 15:00 (13:00 GMT).

Swedish opposite Isabelle Haak was the match's top scorer with 20 points (17 kills, two aces, one block) and received the MVP award. Brazilian outside hitter Gabriela 'Gabi' Guimarães added 13 (all in kills), while middle blocker Marina Lubian contributed 11, with six kills, three aces and two blocks.

"We played very well," star libero Monica De Genarro said. "Our passing was efficient, and we made the right decisions on offense. Our blocking and defense were good in some moments and not as effective in others. We're just starting, and we still need to get better."

With 11 points (all in kills), Belgian outside hitter Britt Herbots was the only Novara player to get to double digits in scoring. Middle blockers Amber Igiede and Sara Bonifacio scored nine and eight points, respectively.

"I'm disappointed that we didn't play our volleyball," outside hitter Lina Alsmeier reflected. "We could have done a lot more to challenge them. I wish we could have extended the match, but we lacked something at the end of the third set. On the positive side, we were able to react in the third set after playing well below our level on the second."

Perugia beat Cuneo in five

Two other matches were held on Saturday, with Bartocinni-Mc Restauri Perugia defeating Honda Cuneo Granda Volley 3-2 (27-25, 23-25, 16-25, 25-15, 15-8) and Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri '76 beating Bergamo 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-14).

Besides the duel between Scandicci and Omag, three more matches will take place on Saturday, all starting at 17:00 (15:00 GMT) - Eurotek Laica UYBA Busto Arsizio face Megabox Ondulati Del Savio Vallefoglia, Il Bisonte Firenze host Wash4Green Monviso Volley and Numia Vero Volley Milano meet CBF Balducci HR Macerata.
