Set to represent Italy at the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship in a few weeks, Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano and Savino Del Bene Scandicci continue to play midweek matches in the 2025-2026 Lega Femminile Serie A1 Tigotà to clear their schedules ahead of the trip to Brazil.

On Wednesday, they will meet Eurotek Laica UYBA Busto Arsizio and Wash4Green Monviso Volley respectively, in matches anticipated from the first leg of the second round of the regular season.

The only undefeated team in the Italian League, defending champions Conegliano got to 32 points after their victory over second-placed Scandicci on Sunday, creating a seven-point gap between the teams. The match against Busto, which is scheduled for 20:00 local time (19:00 UTC), offers them another opportunity to continue running away at the top of the standings.

The Panthers have triumphed against Busto 32 times in 42 Italian League matches so far, but have the teams' match in the first round of the season, in which they had to fight back after dropping the first two sets, very much alive in their minds.

"It feels like a long time has passed since that match, but it was only a month and a half ago," head coach Daniele Santarelli said. "Their team changed a lot because of Boldini's (Jennifer, setter) injury and are a young and unpredictable team, but we're also a different team now, and we can't make the same mistakes we did in that first match. We have a lot of important matches ahead of us in the next few weeks, and we need results in each of them, so we can't take it easy."

Currently in eighth place in the standings with 12 points (four wins, six losses), Busto are heavily involved in the fight for a spot in the playoffs. They get to Wednesday's encounter after getting back-to-back victories and stopping a three-match winless streak.

Scandicci look to bounce back

Taken down by Conegliano in the Derby on Sunday, Scandicci return home to face Monviso looking to recover with a victory. The teams will play at 20:30 local time (19:30 UTC), and Scandicci could use the three points as they continue chasing Conegliano while also trying to preserve their second-place spot.

Scandicci have come out on top in each of the eight duels against Monviso in domestic competition and prevailed in four sets on the road when the teams met in the first round of the season.

"We're coming from a very difficult match against Conegliano and we need to get back on track immediately," head coach Marco Gaspari reflected. "It's important for us to start the second half of the season well, especially considering that we're going to play every three days between now and the Club World Championship. Monviso may not be in their best form right now, but they have some really physical and talented players and will be dangerous opponents."

Ranked 12th with ten points (four wins, seven losses), Monviso won two of their last five matches and are coming from a straight-set home upset against Bergamo on Sunday.
